Celebrating 5 years of the World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC)

Our chairman Keiichi Aritomo shared his insights:

"Following Jennifer Reynolds’ successful management of the organization in the past two years, which required adaptability due to the pandemic, I am keen to keep the momentum up. It’s a testament to our members' openness to collaborate and open their doors that we completed our first AGM in Africa and have been around five continents. With the AGM in the USA on the horizon and COP28 in the UAE, opportunities for financial centers to exchange best practices are increasing. I am keen to give our members a platform to demonstrate their great work, increase cross-border collaboration, and make financial centers more relevant to the real economy with integration into capital markets and supply chains.”

#FSDC Chairman, Laurence Li, shared his profound insights on Hong Kong’s Capital Market and Global Capital Flows at the “Phoenix Financial Forum for the Greater Bay Area 2023.”

“We are here to do more business together,” Laurence called on Hong Kong to leverage its geographical advantage as Asia’s economic centre for expanding its business collaboration with neighbouring regions. He emphasized Hong Kong’s openness as a financial market and its capacity to foster different forms of financial innovation and advancement in areas such as insurance and fintech, which hold significant growth potential.

He remains optimistic that “Tomorrow will be even bigger”, envisioning a future of more extensive and diverse opportunities in financial interconnection. This extends beyond Hong Kong’s stock market to RMB internationalization, which offers substantial room for development. As a result, Hong Kong’s capital market is poised for significant growth in the days ahead.

True investment in our future

Germany, October 2023: More than 240,000 young people under the age of 25 are registered as unemployed. Across the EU we are talking about 2,69 million.

A significant challenge. And an enormous potential that we urgently need to raise. If we as a society do not manage to sustainably reduce the rate of youth unemployment, we are gambling away our future.

That is why Boerse Stuttgart Group and Stuttgart Financial have decided to support JOBLINGE with a donation and a specific self-presentation training programme for selected participants. Joblinge teams up businesses, the government, and private individuals to support young people facing difficulties in starting their working life.

The goal: Real job opportunities and sustainable integration into the labour market and society.

The result: Far above-average success through custom-fit qualification, voluntary mentoring, and support during the training – around 75 percent of registered participants make the leap into working life.

It’s been a busy, but productive, few days at #CPC23. We were delighted to co-sponsor the 1922/Conservative Home Reception, which saw our CEO, Miles Celic, speak on a platform with the Prime Minister about how the industry can support growth across the economy. We also partnered with ConservativeHome for our fringe event, which saw us delve into the pivotal role of the financial and related professional services industry in driving sustainable growth and strengthening the UK's competitiveness. A huge thank you to our panellists for their valuable insights and contributions to the discussion: Bruce Carnegie-Brown, Chair of our Leadership Council, Andrew Griffith MP, Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Katharine Braddick, Group Head of Strategic Policy at Barclays, and Katherine Griffiths, City Editor at Bloomberg.
