Two weeks ago, we concluded the fourth #QatarEconomicForum. This year’s theme, ‘A World Remade: Navigating the Year of Uncertainty,’ brought together 1,000 leaders from the corporate and governmental spheres for pivotal discussions on global trends impacting boardrooms and financial markets.

7640 jobs have been successfully created in the AIFC ecosystem. The development of the financial centre actively contributes to employment in the country. Job creation is one of the indicators of the financial centre's successful integration into the national infrastructure.

On May 29th, Busan Finance Center was so happy to welcome Jochen Biedermann at Busan International Finance Center(BIFC). The research division 2, Dr. Soongoo Ahn, Gyeongmi Lee, SEUNGJAE CHOI, Geumpyo Hong had a great time with Dr. Biedermann in BIFC and we were highly inspired by Dr.Biedermann's keynote speech at the Web 3.0 Forum 😀

And on the following day, Busan Finance Center - World Alliance of International Financial Centers (WAIFC) - Busan Metropolitan City had a meeting at Busan Metropolitan City Hall. 🤝

We mainly discussed how to develop Busan, the Financial Hub and how to collaborate, especially in digital finance between Busan and WAIFC. Also, we expressed our interest in hosting the 2026 WAIFC Annual General Meeting in Busan 🌎

It sounds difficult to acknowledge the #challenges we face in public, but as researchers, that's what we do.

Speaking at The University of Hong Kong yesterday, I shared some of the challenges we have faced over the years. Among others, the evolving perception of #HongKong, our #competitiveness as a #financialcentre, and #attractiveness as a tourist destination have created doubts among observers.

It is natural given the #development over the years, but sitting afar and making assumptions just won't help. This is why I encouraged #entreprenuers and #businessexecutives to step forward, venture close, and see for themselves the wonders that await. And I am thrilled to learn that some in the audience are already planning to set up funds, family offices, or even list their companies on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX).
